The conference will be held in Sousse, a charming coastal city known as “the pearl of the Sahel” and listed as an UNESCO Heritage Site. The city of Sousse is located in the eastern coast of Tunisia by the Gulf of Hammamet on the Mediterranean Sea (140km south of Tunis, 127 km north of Sfax and 57 km from Kairouan). It is Tunisia's third largest city (after Tunis and Sfax) with a population of 173, 047 inhabitants (2004 estimates). It is home to many resorts and fine sand beaches backed by orchards and olive groves. It has a pleasant Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and warm, gentle wet winters.
